Howdy, anyone located up in the Round Rock area? I'm just starting on my triathlon adventure, and looking for a few like-minded individuals who would like to get together every now and then for group training. Nothing in particular (although my swimming could stand a few pointers), just wanted to see who all on BT is in this community.

Hey John.  There are plenty of triathletes in Round Rock and plenty of avenues for training and improvement.  The Round Rock YMCA has a great masters swim group, which is probably the best way to become a better swimmer (I swim there MWF over the lunch hour).  This time of year, new triathletes join the group to get ready for late Spring and Summer triathlons.  You should also look into Georgetown Triathletes.  Not that far up the road and they have training scheduled almost every day (swim, bike and run).

I don't know if there is an official group, but a lot of locals meet up at Lake Pflugerville regularly to run, bike, and swim. Maybe somebody can chime in with more info on that.

Thanks for the insight guys. I'm going to check out the Georgetown group - they look like a really great group of folks.

I'll definately be hitting up Lake PF once things warm up!

Hope to see y'all on the trail sometime!

Yeah Lake PF is a great place to hit up for the whole SBR thing.

Was out there just this last Sunday and saw a good number of people on the bike and running.

No one swimming yet... I brought the wet suit, but before putting it on I decided to put my feet in the water. It only lasted about 2 minutes before I said no to the swim myself.

It would be nice if there was a formal BT meet up out at the lake at some point.

That way we get to meet each other when we aren't mid race.

Oh and another place for you although a decent drive is to go hit up the veloway in south Austin. Its a nice 3 mile closed loop. You can get some good training there if you want.

I got about a minute into it and, despite bracing myself against it for months, I panicked. I could not get my breath. I said, "I can't do this, I can't do this."

I went into the pool area (as this was a pool swim) and got body marked. That's when it hit me that I was there to race - this was not a clinic.

The triathletes really inspired me. I watched them in awe as childlike thoughts went through my head like, "I want to do that!" But then reality set in. “Who are you kidding?
