Okay, I lied, I'm actually 61 now. I completed a sprint triathlon last May and actually enjoyed it even though I was 2nd to last in the swimming pool and had bike problems but it was still FUN. I plan to compete (and I use that word loosely) in 3 sprint tri's this season. I came in FIRST in my age group! (well, I must mention there were no other women in my age group in this triathlon).

Welcome from another 60 year old!  (I won't be 61 until May)

Love doing this stuff and don't plan to quit until I have to.

Well I'm not sure I should be talking to you old folks since I won't be 60 until next year. I took up the sport two years ago but have been out of it for 10 months following a biking accident fractured my hip. It is a very addictive sport, I love it.

You had a problem with the swim, I can't run. My first event they had to cancel the swim (my best event) due to poor water conditions so they added another run before the bike. I finished that 3k run exactly 4 seconds ahead of the last person. It was terrible. But I had a great (relatively speaking for me) ride and did OK in the second run to finish sixth out of nine in my AG. It was good enough to keep me in the game.

All I can tell you is what I was told when I started. The three most important things about triathlon:

1. Have Fun
2. Have Fun
3. Have Fun
