Hi!!

I have been doing some research on my next 70.3, i had racine in mind (i alredy have plane tickets, haha), but i want to make sure its the right way to go... From what i hear its a fast course but seems like the run its tough, i saw it only has a 150 ft gain for the HM, why is it considered so hard? is it the heat?

I did Cozumel last year and had a blast its a beautiful race, how do you think it compares to Racine I PR'd with 5:59 (my first race, HHAHA) and i'd love that trend to continue, i think i can get to racine much better prepared.

What do you think? should i look into Miami? or are they siumilar! Thank you! (i wouldnt like to do Cozumel again!)

Run isn't tough, has two hills you hit twice. Limited shade and it can be hot but its July.

The race distance, heat and sun exposure will make things like that seem 18 times as difficult as they are.

It's Wisconsin in July.  You can be anywhere from upper 70's to mid 90's on that run.  I hear there isn't a lot of shade so it's going to be hot.  See ya there probably!

I'll be there and yes it can be very hot. Trick is to really hydrate and race within yourself.  Great venue, you will have a blast.  See you there!

I don't know anything about Miami, but I have done Racine before.  The swim is in a big body of water (Lake Michigan) and can be quite cold and rough at times, so that has the potential to get tough.  The bike is very flat and fast.  As mentioned by another poster, the run is relatively flat except for a short & very steep hill that you hit twice.  It would be nice if they could find a way to eliminate that becuase it is a bit "gimmicky".  Overall, from a course perspective, I don't think it's very hard.  Usually the biggest factor is that July heat which is what gets most people (it definitely got to me on the run).

I just finished the NYC marathon on Sunday and I think I'm going to venture into triathlons. I am doing an Olympic distance and I want to do a 70.3 next year too. Any advice?

It was the morning of Ironman Newfoundland 70.3, I felt queasy. I didn't want to eat or drink anything. I had a full blown case of the pre-race HEEBEE GEEBEES.
