Not sure if it is from eating a huge amount of carbs the week before or the celebration for three days after, or both. (I am saying the celebration after). But I ran my first marathon. Was slow. It was extremely hot. I was doing great ahead of my pace by 3 to 4 minutes at miles splits till about mile 14, then I fell apart. Lost my pace group. Got super hungry. And I never really recovered. Legs were in a state of pain from mile 16 on. BUT I FINISHED. I have the medal to prove it and I will race again. In full recovery mode still. Legs are tight but much better. So onward and upward (or downward). Back on track, and tracking on MFP. Happy to see other progress, Keep it up. J First Awesome job man. I think that is hard core. It is kind of natural to do that after a race. Make sure you take time off for recovery. Like true solid recovery time. I am sure you put in a ton of work to get there. I know this year after I finished Detroit, I made sure I took several weeks easy after Detroit this year. I made the mistake of not doing that in previous years and paid for it. I see a similar post-weekend trend that you do. So do I start on the low day or the high day? Hey Jen, I find its best to track my weight at the same day and same time once a week. I usually weigh at least 3-4 pounds more on Monday mornings than I do on Wednesday mornings. I was 193.4 last Wednesday and 197.0 this morning. Mike Yeah, I weigh every day but only log official weight once a week, the lbs will go up and down during the week, what you want is a steady downward trend by week. Then you look back over a coulpe months and can see the progress. Tuesday I was 4 pounds up from Monday. I seem to react to the weekend like that, Tuesday is traditionally my heaviest day of the week. Train more, eat more. I steadily decline to Saturday, which is usually the lowest, then repeat. Vicious cycle..... |

Soooooo close to seeing 179.9! I don't care if it's after a workout I just want to see it on a scale. I'm getting a fitness assessment done tomorrow. Can't wait to see what my % body fat is. It was just about two years ago that I went out for my first run, weighing 250lbs or so. I can't believe how far I have come in those two years. I wish I would have gotten a baseline when I first started. To be honest though I never thought that I would make it this far. Good work to all, let's keep on strong! Summers a coming! |

And I even won my age group at my duathlon on Sunday. Only 3.5 months to go until IM Coeur d'Alene. I just keep telling myself "1 minute off your marathon time for every pound" This was so inspirational, thanks for posting it. KEEP it up!!!! |

Veteran 869 Stevens Point, Wisconsin | Subject: RE: Team Skinny March 2014....Let the Madness begin on getting leaner Feeling pretty good after my fitness assessment today. Came in at 17.1% body fat - goal to get it down to 10% (I can do it!) My 0% body fat weight is 155lbs - so I am shooting for a final goal weight of 170lbs. They had a "real age" which came in at 23. I'm 28 so that's good. I just wonder how useful that is though. |

31 | Subject: RE: Team Skinny March 2014....Let the Madness begin on getting leaner March 3- 108 lbs March 10- 106.7 lbs March 17- 108 lbs I guess my "loss" last week was probably more of a fluctuation (or today is a fluctuation--hard to tell). I'm going to just keep doing what I'm doing: eating well and exercising 4x/week. As long as I'm not gaining, I'm pretty pleased. I've been stuck at the 108 plateau for months, so I'm not surprised the scale hasn't been budging. I only recently started exercising regularly, so that may also account for the scale not moving. I wish you all a fantastic week! I swam half a mile today for the first time, so it was a good day. :-) P.S. My body fat is 19.5% and my doctor said I should not go below my current weight. I'm tri-ing (ha) to become more of an athlete in terms of physique. Is it healthy for my BF to be lower than what it is now? I've seen charts say a 24-year-old female shouldn't go below 18.5%. 109 | Subject: RE: Team Skinny March 2014....Let the Madness begin on getting leaner Carolyn, in my opinion it would be perfectly fine for you to go under 18.5% BF. I know women that are stay around the 13-14% BF range year round when training. Many aren't triathletes, but they do crossfit/run/strength train. Most charts are based off of what a 'normal' person your age/height/sex etc. is. Those charts give more of a rough estimation of what BF% is considered healthy for the masses. If you are trying to transform your body to be more athletic, staying at the same BF% really won't be possible. If you are losing weight, it pretty much comes down to fat or muscle loss. Obviously the goal is for fat loss and muscle retention, so if you are losing fat your BF% will drop, then moving you towards an athletic figure. I am not a doctor/nutritionist etc., so all of the above is my opinion on information I have read over the years. Hope this helps. |
