Subject: Conference call on the trainer, why haven't I found you earlier?
1 hour conference call where there is little chance I have to talk can now become a spin. Although I think I'll shy away from the intervals for now.

Some of you probably found this first but if not, this is a public service announcement.

I see you live in Apex? I live in Morrisville......don't work from home though, so that may put a dent in my ability to adopt this tactic.

If I had room in my home office I would have my trainer set up in there too.  It's out in my loft and just far enough away that my phone cord won't reach.  I do keep dumb bells and a resistance band in the office for when I get stuck on conference calls.

It's great when I don't have to talk. I have a shelf built onto my treadmill so typically I can walk while listening, with the laptop right in front. The problem that I currently have is that Lync meetings need to have a Blue Tooth earpiece, so I can't use my headphones to drown out the treadmill, or the trainer while on a call

Are rare treat for sure. I find I actually concentrate on the call more while spinning on the trainer than sitting idle. Unfortunately most of my CC's I have to talk regularly and that would be a little awkward.

I have the option to call in to a monthly 3 hour meeting, at which point I put the phone on mute (except for the rare moments I have to say something) and get an interval workout done.

My wife found that her aero bars are almost a perfect laptop stand. So now she's actually on conference calls, connected to the presentations, yet spinning. And you're right, intervals are no good, but easy spinning for the length of the call, then a quick 30 min of intervals and you have a great workout.

I use a music stand (heavy duty school grade) and use my Ipad to answer e-mails or catch up on reading.  I sometime play poker too.  It works well as I can adjust the height if I want it lower for aero or higher if I am sitting up. 

Unfortunately since I moved back from the west coast, I haven't found too many opportunities to do conference calls as I am usually a morning person!

People ask about finding time for training for the longer races and things like this help!

I've actually done a conference call where there was little chance I needed to talk while on an easy run. Plugged my headphones into my iphone, strapped it on to my arm and away I went. I never figured out how I would explain the heavy breathing if I had to talk.
