Subject: You Are An Ironman book by Jacques Steinberg
I finally decided to read You Are An Ironman by Jacques Steinberg, and since I have a decent drive to/from work, I borrowed the audio book version from my local public library. I figured listening to the book would be a good way to spend my daily drive....and boy was I wrong. The person who reads the book is so horrible. His voice is so flat and monotonous...the audio book is un-listenable imho. I couldn't get past the first minute.

I don't have an opinion on the book since I couldn't get past the first minute of the audio book, so perhaps the book is good. Don't know yet. I'll go back to the library and borrow the actual book this time.

So long story short, if you were thinking about the audio book version of You Are An Ironman, take it from me...avoid it.

I read the book and thought it was good. I found it to be interesting how he followed multiple people through their training. If you can crack open the book, its worth a read. I might read it again for inspiration for IMMT in August

I didn't think the audiobook was that bad, although it did grate on my nerves that the narrator pronounced it "tri-ath-a-lon" and "tri-ath-a-lete"

Really liked Kirby Heyborne's narration - he is by far one of my favorite male narrators (and I liken to 50+ audiobooks a year)

But I find it interesting that you say you didn't make it past the first minute...since iirc the intro is done by someone other than the main narrator

I read this book about a year ago. Loved it and found it fascinating to follow the different athlete's IM journeys. I am contemplating making the jump to a full IM, so I might read it again soon.

I found the audio version of IronWar was equally nerve grating. How to you find the most pale faced, nerdy voiced man possible to narrate a book about the two greats of Ironman. skip the audio, do the book.

I went into the pool area (as this was a pool swim) and got body marked. That's when it hit me that I was there to race - this was not a clinic.
