Comments: L sent N and I on our way and said she would see us at the finish. I told N that he was setting the pace and he did a great job. Super even splits. He's a speedy little guy :) There were quite a few spots in the trail that were under water and/or mud so there were a few slow downs and/or jumps that needed to be made! We cheered for the leaders as they came back along the trail after the turnaround and I noticed that there was just one young lady ahead of N. He was still setting the pace perfectly. I asked him if he wanted to pick it up a bit at the end, and he said yes. He started to increase at about 3.5km, not huge, just a bit. Just past 4km, I see that we are gaining on the young lady in front of him. I think he saw it too, as he really started to pick it up. He passed her around 4.3km and never looked back. A few more puddles, and we were on the last straightaway. I told him to go for it and he gave it all he had. So awesome! We waited for L to cross the finish line before going to grab our pancake breakfast :). Post race
