Thanks for the feedback. Think I'll give this race a shot; gotta try something new anyway

Nice day out, even with the wind adding a little more challenge to it. Ended up 5th overall. I was on a black & blue road bike if anyone spooked in the ride.

Nice job brigby1. Wind was tough on the bike. For some reason my swim was slower this year but I felt faster. Oh well. 33rd overall. I'll take it.

Finished around 1:41 (per my Garmin, will write a report once I have the official splits). Was 3 minutes slower in both swim and bike from last year. Good thing we finished when we did. Boy, did the wind kick up later that morning.

Honestly, my training hasn't been great and it showed. Oh well, I had fun, which is what I put down for my goal for the race. Well run race as usual.

Has anyone heard anything about this race for 2015? I thought they used to offer a $100 deal in conjunction with Wauconda race, but this year I only got a 10% off email from Wauconda with no mention about LITH. I think the woman that used to do all the coordinating (Trudy Wakeman?) has retired or left. I know there are still 4 months but I would have thought I would have received some email reminders by now.

Was just poking around on the LITH website. Nothing there so far. It used to be right around this time that they would at least announce it. Yes, Trudy did retire.

ETA: Crap, no LITH tri this year. This was my first ever tri and I have done it 5 years in a row. At least stroke and stride will still happen.

Very disappointing. I don't know why they would cancel it. It was a great race with lots of participation.

Add to it that the Rockford Triathlon also folded this year and you have 2 races in June, in close proximity to each other, that will be gone this year.

I'm local to the LITH area, and currently training for the Esprit De She in June. Does anyone know of a tri training group in Cary or Crystal Lake? The closest one I've come across is in Palatine, which I just can't do with my work schedule.
I currently do all my training at the Cary YMCA. Thanks for any recommendations!

Correction...it's the Crystal Lake Y, not Cary!

I too live in the area (Crystal Lake). Due to my schedule I do most of my training solos so I am not sure about any official clubs, but I do know there are some very active triathletes that train with the LifeTime group in Algonquin and there are a bunch of others that train out of the Healthbridge club. You can also check in with the Running Depot in downtown Crystal Lake. I believe they have some good contacts for a club.

If not - let me know - we could always start one up!

Any luck in finding a group? I too, am in Crystal Lake, suprised to find that there are no groups local, at least represented online anyway.
I'm in if someone takes the reins.

No luck. Running Depot is only aware of Multisport...the one through Lifetime Fitness. I keep forgetting to ask the front desk at the YMCA. That would be a great program for them to have. I'm SURE I'm not the only person who goes there and trains (or has trained) for a triathlon!

It would just be really nice to be amongst people who are doing the same training!

The triathlon made a lot of sense as I could fit the training around early mornings and other times that wouldn't eat too much into my family time. Things never go completely to plan do they?

I struggled on the bike while climbing the hill portions of the course. I do fine on long straight rides but really have a tough time while hill climbing. Any advice or training tips?

I was not an official; I simply observed the race and the officials doing their thing. Here is what I saw:
