Not like it was a blowout, friends. 2 points was the only difference and EASILY could have gone either way. Even though my team came out on the short end, it was a great game!

2 points is a basketball game........and a loss is a loss.  Lots of 2 point losses in the records of every team in that tournament....you know that.  In the end the truth is the truth.....WS was a very good basketball team propped up by playing in a mid-major conference.  Not a special team or a team for the ages....just a really good team in a weak conference.

Congrats to your team on a great season......now sit down and watch the big boys play.

Totally agree.

I guess I was reacting more to someone else's words "never credit a non-major conference like that."
I think they still deserve a ton of credit for hanging with Kentucky, the entire game resting on the final play.

WS was a victim of poor seeding. Kentucky was stronger than a 8 seed and WS shouldn't have faced them that early. Louisville is underseeded, Syracuse and Nova were overseeded. Duke probably was as well. These aren't purely upsets, but seem to be lack of accuracy in seeding.

I agree.....the seeding this year was goofy.  And WS was doomed from the start with the bracket they potentially faced.  If they made it all the way i would have called them the greatest team ever.

St. Louis as a 5 seed while Michigan St. is a 4?  Dumb.  That's just the most glaring example.  Maybe Warren Buffet paid off the selection comittee.

I remember some Vegas guy on one of the talk shows saying the WS bracket had 4 of the top 10 favorites to win the tournament.

Personally I think Kentucky was about right at an 8. Maybe they could have been a 7 or even 6 but no lower. They had an ok year but they're young and more a case of several talented individuals than a good team. Anyhow won't matter, they'll be out as of the next round.

I wonder if he is a big Duke supporter?!?!

OK, maybe not, but this was a wacky seeding year by the committee. I said it earlier and I'll say it again, Wichita State had an impossible path to get to the end. All of the schools mentioned above were not where they should have been. But this year was a crapshoot to begin with, so there was no way the committee was going to get it "right". Besides, where is the fun in that?

I hope you're right......but all season I've waited for the team with 5 McDonald All-Americans to get on track, and they may be there.  You just never know with a young team.   I would say nobody is too excited to play KU right now.

Kentucky Louisville will be another great game. The 2 teams miatch up a lot differently though. Kentucky is big and strong inside. Louisville lightning quick at guards and very stron on the wing. I give the edge to Louisville on speed and better outside shooting. I think... Maybe.

Wisconsin just owned Baylor tonight. I didn't see that coming at all. This is the best Tourney I've watched in a long time.

I guarantee nobody who was a Wichita State fan did.

I've been thinking "what if" regarding that UK/ Wichita St game. If WSU had been in a different bracket, would they have been in the final four?

I don't know.....KU hasn't been steamrolling anyone.  If you can't make it from the bracket you're in then you're not good enough to go, right?  I think there are easily 10 teams that WSU would have had trouble with.

11 million + brackets done on ESPN and out of that less then 1800 had this matchup. Statistically, not a popular selection!

That's waaaay more than I would have thought.  Who the hell picks an 8 v. 7 for the final?

Someone with bigger stones than I, that's for sure!  We didn't bother watching the last couple of games, and when I saw who was left, I actually turned to my wife and said "No one has that matchup, no way, no how."  Talk about keeping Buffet's money safe

Yeah, I'm OK with that......otherwise the winner of the next 3 NCAA tournaments would be locked up.

This guy did.  And then forgot to pick a winner and lost out on the $100,000 consolation prize.

poor guy

True...I would have expected less than 100.  But when you consider that UConn and Kentucky are not your typical 7 and 8 seed, have huge fan bases, and have won national championships recently...maybe it makes more sense.  There are more UConn and Kentucky homers out there than most other schools.

I would bet that there was less than 1800 people who picked say VCU and St. Louis in the finals despite them being a 5 and 4 seed respectively.

The tournament is always good, but I have to say, this year?  Not going down in the memory banks as one of the better ones.  I don't know.  Just felt a little bored throughout.

I know people SAY they like a good underdog story.  Yeah, maybe for one game.  But honestly?  We like to see the big dogs fight it out in the final four.  An underdog is cool for the moment, like a Mercer over Duke, but the game after that?  Usually a snooze-fest.  Tenn over Mercer by 20.  Upsets are novel, but I would rather see the big boys play.

I don't even get how a 7 vs 8 is the finals.  Poor seeding, IMO.  The shockers got screwed (and so would any #1 if Kentucky us supposed to be an 8).

I think KU, or any team starting 5 Freshman McDonald All-Americans is a wild card.  That team was ranked 1 or 2 preseason and then lost 8 games....which typically gets you and 8 or 9 seed.  They started playing as a team and not 5 wild horses by the time the SEC tourney came around, but the seedings are pretty set by then.  If anything, Louisville as a 4 seed was ridiculous, and screwed the whole region, and WSU got it the worst.

UConn was another team that finally put it together.......hell, they lost to Louisville by 33 earlier in the season.  Go figure.

So now U Conn doubled up after the women gave ND a beat down. Pretty cool feat when you think about it. I thought ND would put up a better game. Pretty much buttons up Geno as one of the all time greatest coaches, although I think he should be more recognized as one of the all time greatest recruiters. His teams have steamrolled in the past, but they are clearly head and shoulders above others from a talent perspective.

I had 3 of the 4 in the final four and had Kansas winning against Kentucky in the final. I ended up winning the bracket at Roosters (local wing joint) and earned a $500 gift card.

Nice.

Did you enter the billion dollar challenge?  Just wondering where you placed even though you didn't have the overall winner.  I'm sure there were thousands of UCONN homers that picked them to win the whole thing, but not many with 3 out of the final 4.
