Pre-race routine:

woke up. had bullet proof coffee. packed the bike and transition bags and headed to race site.
Event warmup:

stretching, running for 1/4-1/2 mile. had a gel 20 minutes prior to swim start.

.... transition was a slight uphill run up the sandy beach... my bike was way in the back of transition area.

run all the way up to transition area

developed a shin splint and a tight calf. hamstring tightened up towards the end.

Warm down:

took a massage. had them work on the hamstring and stretch it out. felt good afterwards. had some pizza a coke and lots of water. waited around for friends doing the 70.3 distance.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

lack of training. i had doe a few ultra marathons a few weeks before and had not really trained for this event.

Event comments:

great event for a sprint. Clermont is a fantastic place to Tri....

The boat was being tossed around. Someone noted that there were whitecaps on the waves. Another guy said, “This is going to be challenging.” I began to wonder what he meant by 'challenging'.

I was passing others who were saying, "Good job, 587" (that was my race number). People were cheering me on. These were the nicest people I have ever been around!
