Seattle, Washington

TriFREAKS, Inc.
50F / 10C
Sunny
Total Time = 1h 57m 12s
Overall Rank = 109/153
Age Group = 30-39
Age Group Rank = 31/41
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 6:30 for my 10a.m. wave to be able to get there early and watch other waves start and transition to get a feel for the event. Had a bit of coffee, yogurt with banana, toast w/ peanut butter.
Event warmup:

A bit of stretching, nothing else.
Swim
  • 15m
  • 700 yards
  • 02m 08s / 100 yards
Comments:

Tie for 13th as several swimmers swam at a time of 17:35, only whole laps counted
What would you do differently?:

Not much. I feel my endurance is pretty solid at my current pace, but I would like to build more speed in the future.
Transition 1
  • 02m 30s
Comments:

Since I swam in only a swimsuit, I had to put on my tri shorts and opted to do it before the bike. This was a bit challenging as I was still wet from the pool and this slowed my time.
What would you do differently?:

Practice swimming in my swimsuit and tri shorts to see if this changes my swim pace.
Bike
  • 1h 12m 7s
  • 5.2 miles
  • 4.33 mile/hr
Comments:

Disappointed in the bike time, though I knew I was not biking as fast as I am sure I could have.
What would you do differently?:

Push myself harder on the bike and not worry about saving it for the run. Definitely increase the amount of biking I do overall.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Unsure of actual T2 time as it is added into the run, but felt quick as all I had to do was throw on a shirt, grab my race belt with my number and run out the door. Was towards the front of my wave in fastest out the door.
What would you do differently?:

Set up shirt so I could just putt it over my head,
Run
  • 27m 30s
  • 2.97 miles
  • 09m 16s  min/mile
Comments:

Tie for 13th (one other person with same run time). Felt good on the run, went much faster than I thought I could do as I thought I was more of a 10-10:30 mi./mile pace runner. I think the competition brings it out. Very proud of myself for this run.
What would you do differently?:

Train for the run more, train at a faster pace.
Post race
Warm down:

Did a lap of walking around Green Lake with my husband.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not training enough, especially on the bike, and a combination of bike/run bricks.

Event comments:

Really enjoyable triathlon, great warmup and setup. Would certainly do this again.
