Tobacco Road Marathon
55F / 13C
Overcast
Total Time = 5h 31m 16s
Overall Rank = 984/1104
Age Group = M45-49
Age Group Rank = 91/94
Pre-race routine:

Got up early, coffee and some breakfast before the drive. Huddle in the warming tent.
Event warmup:

Walked over to the starting line to find JungleJenn. This wasn't going to be an aggressive pace, so I opted to save my energy.
Run
  • 5h 31m 16s
  • 26.2 miles
  • 12m 38s  min/mile
Comments:

This was a good day to run with JungleJenn as she trains for Zion. We weren't out to set any records and ran and talked for 5.5 hours. Legs were definitely feeling the lack of training for most of the second half.

It was interesting to see the old barn where they dried tobacco (see the pic).
What would you do differently?:

Train more. I signed up at the last minute with my longest run this year being 11.5 miles.
Post race
Warm down:

Grabbed a few bananas and a slice of pizza.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Limited training. Was resting a sore Achilles tendon most of December and January.

Event comments:

Was doing this race to run with Jenn and didn't stick around too long after finishing.

Looks like another cool medal to add to your collection!  BTW I saw an idea for a shadow box to show off your medals.  It is an old window put on top of a table.  The table would have the center dropped down, but it looked really cool!
