cervelo 2014 p2 or cervelo 2014 p3???

 2 |  Subject: cervelo 2014 p2 or cervelo 2014 p3???Hi I want to purhase either the p2 or the p3 and i dont know which one to choose! I currently have 10 year old aluminium colnago on which i put aerobars so switching to a tri bike will be big improvement on its own. I do 1 70.3 tri a year and the rest is olympic distance. The bike is my worst leg so i figure a new bike would help me. The p2 seems great having the same frame as the p3 except the fork but i wonder if i will regret not paying 1150$ more for p3. The p3 has better wheels, ultegra instead of 105/tiagra chain cassette on p2 and p3 also has carbon aero bars. Im confused and would greatly appreciate any thoughts on my dilemna! Im 5'5 and weight 115 lbs and would need 48 frame size. thanks!!!! |

If I have done my research correctly, things have changed in the new P2 as far as geometry is concerned.. it has less reach and more stack. However, the differences between the P3 are few and far between...It use to be that the p3 was longer and lower, but it appears as if that has gone away...The new P2 has the same geometry as the P5 and the new P3 from the claims I have seen. From all I can tell the 2 bikes are exactly the same, except the trailing edge of the upper portion of the fork blades is blunted rather than sharp like on the p3.. and the junction between the blade and the fork crown is slightly more gradual on the P2. |

Do you think i will regret not getting the p3 with ultegra though if i get the p2? and does carbon aero bars make a big difference?? also the p3 ultegra has 11 cassette and the p2 has tiagra 10 will that change something??? | 23 | Subject: RE: cervelo 2014 p2 or cervelo 2014 p3??? Snowstar, I debated between both bikes and the deciding factor was how I was going to race the bike and how frequently. I bought the p2 and love it. I plan on using $1100 saved to buy a more aero wheel set than what comes on the p3 and an aero helmet. The chain and cassette will eventually wear and will be upgraded at that time. I had no regrets racing this past Sunday and passing several more expensive bikes. |
