Depends on what you are trying to accomplish.

And the correct term is "orthosis".

I'm definitely not an expert, but I have them in stability shoes (Brooks Adrenaline)...I haven't had any problems, I've run half-marathons in them and been very comfortable.

I suffer from severe overpronation and very flat feet. I've been using orthotics in Asics GT2000 for 10 years now, including three marathons, five 50k races, and and Ironman. I was first prescribed this combination by an orthotics person, then again a few years later by a podiatrist.

But it's probably not a combination you should self-prescribe.
