Subject: Aqua velo alternative - Ironman Maryland / ChesapeakeMan

I posted this in the Central PA Tri Geek group on Facebook:

"With ChesapeakeMan becoming Ironman Maryland this year, it's probably a safe bet that the aqua velo that was always part of the event is history, because WTC events don't include relays or aqua velos. Many athletes in the region training for late season IM's would use this event for training. Personally, I have two athletes I coach who wanted to do it this year and are very disappointed about this announcement. I suspect there are several more in this group.
If I could organize a group training session that consisted of an iron distance aqua velo in SC PA that same day (September 20th), who would be interested in participating?"

I thought I should throw this out here on BT, since not everyone here is in that particular FB group.

Anyone interested?

After three triathlon seasons, I finally decided that I wanted to actually see well during the swim portion. My vision is not so great. I had to find better goggles.

Often it makes sense to race slower in order to finish faster and at the same time have a more enjoyable Ironman Triathlon experience.

Once I can run again I'm thinking about keeping it in the training plan as a substitute for a few of my short runs. Has anyone else done this for their marathon training?

Swimming has one of the cheapest gear requirements out there. If there’s one necessity any beginner triathlete can’t do without in the pool it’s a good, reliable set of goggles.
