Hoped for a PR today, but ended up with 3rd fastest all-time. Just missed finishing under 20 minutes...had to dodge an idiot woman's dog with half mile to go (she was a back-of-the-pack walker heading out as the lead runners were coming in and not only turned her back and backed into our path to take a picture of her friends, but let her dog wander across the course right in front of me, leash and all)...don't know if breaking stride for that cost me 1.7 seconds, but it didn't help.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. I always seem to get 2nd in my AG at this race, regardless of whether I run the 5K or the 10K. Went out the first mile in my intended pace, just couldn't quite hold it. Averaged under 6:30/mile, which is always my first goal at this distance and the fact that I had a realistic shot at beating a five year old PR 4 weeks before my 54th birthday is something.

Event comments:

I've run this race for years now. Second time I've almost been taken out by a dog that someone insisted on running or walking the course with.

In November of 2000, I noticed that I was losing the feeling in my toes. The sensation traveled up my body and within a week, I was nearly 80% paralyzed.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve had weight issues. I remember standing on the scale as a child weighing 60 pounds and feeling fat. My family dealt with stress by eating.
