Subject: Striving To Become More!
Hello Everyone! My name is Anthony and I decided a weeks ago that I wasn't happy with the way I'm looking. That and the Army seems to agree with me (US Army). So I decided, "I'm going to train for a IronMan 70.3!" I told my wife who laughed, "Wait, you serious?" I am serious! At the beginning of the year I weighed 211 lbs. I've dropped down to 197 lbs and I need to get under 20% Body Fat or 174 lbs for my job in the Army. Why not train for an IronMan? Oh, and at the same time I'm working on becoming a Personal Trainer from Pinnacle Career Institute.

The world of Triathlons is completely new to me and my family. I'll be the first to do one though I'm already getting a team together for IronMan 70.3 in 2015. I currently won't be able to run due to some shin problems until Summer 2014 so I'm just training swimming and biking right now. Because of that I won't be able to participate in the 2014 Lake Stevens, WA IronMan 70.3 so working towards 2015 already.

I want to do, what I've dubbed "The Triumphant": IronMan 70.3, Spartan Run, and ToughMudder. Everything I'm doing to train now is leading up to those events over the next year and beyond.

Anyway, those are my goals. Any advise, specifically for my first IronMan 70.3 next year, would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Two birds with one stone...awesome!  Yes, with shin problems, focus on swim and bike.  Though do you know why you had shin problems?  Too much too soon?  Army training?

When you do start running, keep it conservative...no more than 10% per week.  You can start on the running portion of any of our free sprint plans - even a couch to 5k plan.  If you are doing the 70.3 in 2015, that will give you plenty of time.

Thousands of spectators lined the shore and bridges overhead. When the announcer said, “Welcome to the best day of your life,” the possibility was still there for all of us.
