I'm setting up my fall race schedule and trying to balance training with races. I'm an anxious racer, so I'm leaning toward racing more frequently to get more used to it.

I'm already registered for:

8/3 Fort Ritchie Triathlon (Oly)

9/7 Nation's Triathlon (Oly)

10/25 Beach2Battleship 70.3

The two races I'm still trying to decide on are:

8/24 North East Triathlon -- offers both a sprint and an oly

10/4 Baltimore Triathlon -- offers both a sprint and an oly

The Baltimore Tri is 3 weeks before B2B -- is that too close for an oly? Should I do the sprint? Not race?

Peronally I like to say race as much as you can. They are hard workouts, good mental prep, and practice of your morning routine. If you are ready for a half, you will have no problem with an Olympic that long before. Schedule looks pretty good, and those are some great races. Have fun!

In my opinion, it depends on what your expectations are for the races.  You could race every weekend if you wanted to but it would wreak havoc on your ability to train efficiently and overall keep you from reaching your full potential on any given race.  I do a lot of running races and even if I train through it still affects the quality of my workouts especially with longer races.  But I do a lot of races because I enjoy the experience more than a few seconds on the clock.

Your races are spaced enough that you would probably be ok but I would not add any more especially before the 70.3.  If I was doing a 70.3, I'd want to be focusing on getting my long rides and runs in.  Sounds like a fun season though and good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Both, either or neither.

Only thing to consider if you race that much is that you probably won't want as much intensity in the rest of your trianing as you might otherwise (at least right around the races).  Those are all pretty hard 'workouts'.
