Subject: hello, I can't swim, don't own a bike, and i'm learning to run. Hello, my name is Kal. I'm 27 years old, 5' 6" 192 lbs. I think that's roughly 25 lbs over weight. I've been with my with for 9 years, married for 2. We have a 9 month old boy and my wife's pregnant with our second child.
I've started to learn how to swim. I would have taken lessons, but they don't offer adult lesson at my local pool until august. I got lucky though, you see one of the instructors is a life guard and gives me pointers and short lessons if I see her on Friday mornings. I desperately need to work on my leg endurance.
I don't own a bike, but I have plans to go look for one in 2 weeks when I'm on my days off. I'm probably going to buy a mountain bike though because I intend to use it off road.
As for running. I was in an accident about 8 years ago that left me with 2 intramedullary rods in my right leg and a tennis ball sized indent in my thigh from the femoral compound fracture. For the most of those 8 years running caused me pain or discomfort. Well now I don't find the pain to be as bad as it once was. I'm taking back my ability to run one step at a time. Running still causes some discomfort around where the screws are in my tibia, but I have a consultation coming up to discuss with a orthopedic Doctor to see if the screws can be removed.
I hope to be able to run 5K by August and depending on my swimming abilities I'd like to do a sprint distance triathlon next year. |
