Dunno if anyone remembers me. Dunno if anyone missed me. All I know is that I am back, and I'm looking to participate again.

2013, as far as racing is concerned, was pretty crappy for me. I didn't compete in a single triathlon. I did compete in a Spartan Race. It was a Super Spartan, held at Wintergreen Resort in Nellysford, VA. It took me almost 7 hours to finish, but I finished!

For 2014, I have a new job (I retired from Naval service, with 20 years 5 days under my belt, when 2013 ended). I have a new found desire to compete, so I'm back on the wagon. This is going to be a light year because of other things going on in life, but here's the master plan:
Company 5K on 17May14
VA Super Spartan on 23Aug14
OBX Olympic Tri on 13Sep14
OBX Marathon on 9Nov14

If other races come up and I can swing the time and $$, I might jump at 'em.

And, now, my big announcement...
I have set a pretty massive goal for myself. I have never run anything more than a 10K to date, as a race. My longest training run to date was 12 miles. Regardless, I've decided that I will compete in and finish TWO marathons before I turn 40 on 28Mar2015. I'm shooting for the OBX Marathon mentioned above and the 2015 Shamrock Marathon held in Virginia Beach, VA.
This was my first week of training. Going is slow, but I'm doing well considering I am also recovering from a motorcycle crash a month ago.

Wish me luck in my endeavors!!

I have pedals with the cage and when I ride 2+ hours my legs feel much more tired then if I took out my husband's bike with clipless pedals. Do clipless pedals truly make the difference?

My back wheel needs to be trued up. It has a slight side-to-side wobble, and I feel at times like I'm going to lose control when I ride. Is this something that I should only trust to my LBS to do?

Soon after I got married, I decided I needed to get motivated to work out and focus on getting back into shape. I could barely jog a quarter-mile without needing a walk break.

I started riding this spring with the Carnac shoes on Look pedals (with plenty of float). About five minutes into a ride I get sharp pain on the outer edge of my feet, just behind the pedal.
