The B2B full starts at 7:30am on Oct. 25th. The low tide for the day is at 5:25am and the high tide is at 10:55am. Since at the start of the race it will be transitioning from low to high, does this information mean that the current will give you a "push". I have not knowledge when it comes to tides. Is the "push" constant or variable?

For the most part they've gotten it so it'll push you right along.

One of the years I did the Half part of the brief was "If you do nothing and just lay there, the tide will take you along and you will make it in time"

The year I did the full, the tide was going out while we were doing the swim. Just my luck

Yes, the current will definitely give you a push - as opposed to last year where we swam it at slack tide.

Both times I did the full the swim was like a sleigh ride. I also remember the briefing where the RD said you could roll over on our back and float to the finish if needed. That said, the current will start to push slowly early in the flood (right after low tide), and accelerate to maximum midway through, then begin to slow down until it slacks again and reverses and begins to ebb. I don't know what location the figures you quote are for (tide table for the area list several locations), but if that's for the inlet area, sounds like you will get a good push from the incoming flood tide.

In past years some of the locals were able to give real good specifics based on local knowledge of the course. Try the athletes forum on the B2B web page, and ask the same question there.

Hope that helps!

My problem is I can only swim about 30-40 meters without having to rest. What is the best way to improve this? I need to get from 40 to 750 meters in 6 months.
