That said, the current will start to push slowly early in the flood (right after low tide ), and accelerate to maximum midway through, then begin to slow down until it slacks again and reverses and begins to ebb. I don't know what location the figures you quote are for (tide table for the area list several locations ), but if that's for the inlet area, sounds like you will get a good push from the incoming flood tide.
In past years some of the locals were able to give real good specifics based on local knowledge of the course. Try the athletes forum on the B2B web page, and ask the same question there.
