Subject: Team Skinny May 2014.... Mayday Mayday, time to get lean!
Here we go again peeps, start of a new month, a fresh start or the continuation of a sucessful last month. List your starting weight, goal by months end. We weigh in on Wednesdays, motivate each other and push ourselves. Any and all are welcome, the more the merrier.

So who is in?

I am new to BT. BT looked like a great way to get connected with a wealth of knowledge on tri training. Let me introduce myself I have been fit for most of life but as soon as I hit 25 I started packing on the pounds. Last December I decided to do an Olympic tri in Rockford il on June 14 I stared at 252 at 6'3 now I am at 238 but have hit a plateau. My goal is to lose six pounds this month. I exercise an hour to 1.5 5-6 days a week. Last Friday I stared a 45% protein diet (190 grams) that was recommended by a trainer. However my body is having a hard time with going from heavy on carbs to heavy on protein. Will my body get used to this or do I need to change things? Thoughts?

I'm in again too.

Starting weight: 141.8 (April 30).

Goal weight: 139.9... if I can break 140 this month I'm thrilled. It's been more than 18 months since I've been that low.

I'm no expert and have only been on BT for a few months, but I do know there are a couple of really good threads here about training on a high protein, lower carb meal plan. From what I read, it takes a few weeks to get your body to adjust. I'd start there and see if it applies to you.

Ok, So I am in like Flynn. Celebrated my 40th on Thursday. Ate everything I love this last weekend. AS a b-day gift I bought a new withings scale. That I am hoping will keep me honest by posting on my MFP account everyday. I should get it today. See how I planned a party weekend, before my new scale came in. LOL my goal for May is get back down below 220. I am 5; 9" and should not weigh in the 200's. I had a fight during April with myself, and depression and other things. I am moving past that now. I look forward to seeing your weigh ins in May and working together to getting the weight off.

What do you mean your body is having a hard time? What kind of timeline are we looking at here? (2 days a week, a month) How long since you switched? We I switched, I saw a large increase in weight, 8 lbs. in a week. Then I plateaued, then saw a nose dive after about 4 weeks. My strength though was growing quickly, and saw performance take a jump too. I was running faster and riding much faster. My swim suffered a little, but that was more about not getting more time in the pool during this time. That was about 9 months ago, and since then have completely changed my focused to running only. I am starting back to a more triathlon training schedule. Focusing more on riding and swimming.

BTW , welcome ot the group and thread. And Congrats on the 16 lbs so far.

I'm chalking it up to water weight/hormones. I know what I've been eating and it's not enough to gain 3 pounds.

Next week will be better...

If I can be there at the end of this month I will be super pumped considering I have a 5 day fishing trip where beer is the liquid of choice and fried fish is the main diet item

Sigh. Better, but still not making the progress I want. That said, training is ramping up in a big way, and there are days when it's everything I can do to eat anywhere near enough calories to stay fueled well!

I am online with the withings scale, boy it keeps me honest. I am doing a littel better logging food, and a little better at staying busy, but still not up to the scale of working out I was. I started up my MBA again, and it is taking more time away from me so working out suffers.

TODAY:  193.  Thinking my scale is a little off......

However, I need to get down to about 191 so that I can absorb fried fish and beer for a few days on a fishing trip.
