Subject: RE: Long Break Between Sets? Personally if I was called away for 45 minutes in the middle of training a body part, I'd forget that body part for that day. For me weight training is not just a bunch of sets, but rather a group of sets put together in a particular order with specific rest criteria for each set.
If I was called away just as I was about to start my heaviest sets then the benefit of the previous sets is lost. When I come back I'd definitely need to go through my warm up sets again. Now I'm fatigued from redoing the warm up and I now don't have the energy to complete the heavy sets as originally planned. I'd fatigue the muscle without gaining the benefits of my planned workout. Now I'll have to recover fully before training that body part again. If I were young the recovery might only be 48 hours. But at my age recovery could take several days and basically I've lost a weeks work of training.
I'd go to another body part, and go through my normal warm up and routine and then come back to the original body part in a day or so. Or depending on what I was training I might call it a day. Edited by NealeinMI 2014-06-05 4:53 PM
