Swim
Comments: Great first try swim after last year's broken shoulder. This was my first open water & wetsuit swim since IM 70.3 Rhode Island in 2010. What would you do differently?: Not much. Transition 1
Comments: Darn wetsuit wouldn't come off. What would you do differently?: Practice transition pieces: wetsuit removal, running with & jumping on bike with shoes clipped in. Bike
Comments: Felt great on the flats. Climbed better in the second half of the bike then the first. What would you do differently?: Continue to work on climbing skills. Transition 2
What would you do differently?: Again, need to practice transition parts: riding with feet on top of shoes, jumping off moving bike, running with bike, etc. Run
Comments: Hard to tell how many people I caught on the run, but I passed 20. Again, hills were tough, but held a good pace throughout. Second out & back was faster than the first. What would you do differently?: Train on hillier roads. Post race
Warm down: Walk, stretch. What limited your ability to perform faster: Signing up for the race two weeks prior. My persistent trouble with hills. Last updated: 2012-06-09 12:00 AM

Decided to sleep in a bit more before driving to the race. Had PB & Honey sandwich and banana for breakfast 2 hours prior to race start. 16 oz of water also.
Because I slept in, I had less time at the race site to do a warm-up. Brief run 60 minutes before start. Spent a good 30 minutes in the water, acclimating and swimming before start.
