Not really a personal name for my bike, but I recently told the guy at my LBS that my bike is a "Crappo".  He initially thought it was some Italian brand he hadn't heard of until he caught on.

My wife named my tri bike "Zippy." Self-explanatory. Then she named my commuter POS "Stan."

Originally posted by ultramike I call my bikes "the P2", "the road bike" and "the winter bike".

I too call my bikes by their model or brand names. The road bike is a Trek so it's either the road bike or the Trek. Cervelo is too long, so I call my tri bike P3. Personally I never give inanimate objects people names. Never named a car, never a bike, never anything. The cars are called by their make or model. It's not something I'm against, just not something I do.

BTW, here's a life lesson I learned: if you find you regularly are prefacing the name with "the damn", as in "the damn car" or "the damn road bike" or "the damn boat" or even "the damn husband" or "the damn girlfriend", it's time to get rid of it / him / her.  Life is too short.

I have a novara (rei store brand) so I normally just call it novi for short.

My Xterra on the other hand that hauls all the tri gear around got named Beastly The Fierce because when I got the plates for it they started with btf...

I honestly don't remember why, but my bike is named Evilbike.

I think it's when I was newer at cycling and scared of it. We're much better friends now, but the name stuck. Evilbike is definitely a thing, gender neutral, not really a he or she. I've always named cars too, but never really think of objects as male or female. Hmmm.

Evilbike recently got some new red grip tape, which seems appropriate for it's name.

I started out last year with "The Iron Maiden". That's my 42lb Huffy Mt Havok

In January, I got my hands on "The Lightweight". It's a GMC (Kent) Denali that tips the scales at 27lb. Not truly light, but 15lbs is a BIG difference.

My road bike, tri bike, mountain bike.

I guess if I were to be a bit more formal.  My Cervelo P3, Felt Roadie, or Specialized full suspension 29er.

I have never met one single person that has named their bike.  Maybe it's just BT that's creepy.

As a newbie I just learned that almost everyone of my friends have named their bikes. Girls have male bikes, guys have female names for their bikes. I felt my bike is too masculine to give a female name so I am still thinking about this.
Have you named your bike? What name?

Mine is named Amber, a porn star name as my bike looks hot and loves being ridden hard and fast.

Bwahahaha! Best laugh I've had in a while. Thanks.

I have a red P1 named Cesar Celerino Cervelo.

"Celerino" is Latin for "fast" (although I'm fast in name only...) and Cesar because I wanted a sexy boy's name so I could make all the "I like to ride him long and hard" jokes. =)

Cesar = sexy boy's name??

I have now finally landed on Gonzo for my bike. Started out with (Speedy) Gonzales but it was too long and my bike is anything but fast. But a short version of Gonzo suddenly made all the sense in the world, after the muppet character. My bike is certainly a bit awkward and out of place, bought very cheap 2nd hand, old and patched together with a lack of knowledge from it's owner (me). Constantly underperforming although full of ambition, it stays optimistic and tries it's best, and believes one day it/we will succeed
