After the first mile I felt like death. Too sunny! I already knew I was screwed :)

Comments:

Well, at least I'm good at transition! I came and went in the time the two ladies near me transitioned. What were they doing?

Comments:

My slowest Oakdale bike yet. The weather was good but I guess that was the best I could do today. I felt pretty strong overall, and this is clearly my best area, but STILL! Ugh.

The other shining moment of the race. Yay me.

I guess considering the walking... I did okay. If this hadn't been largely downhill I might have quit.

Event comments:

I wasn't terribly jazzed to do this to begin with and I am really not into multisport races anymore. Too much trouble ;) I am glad I got to chat with several friends, that was the highlight of the morning.

Well, I'm impressed that you went out and did it, especially because you weren't super jazzed about it. Your times are always impressive relative to mine. Good job!

After doing duathlons for the last couple of years, I decided to go for a triathlon. Starting with an Olympic-distance race perhaps wasn't wise, but it was fun (of a sort).

My first duathlon was a success. I had so many fears before the race but none of those fears happened. And when it was all over, I felt I had accomplished something big.

Training in the cold can be effective and fun with some planning. Overall, prepare for the environment, stay hydrated and dry, listen to your body and have a great safe cold weather outing.

Don’t forget this is an incredibly big year for sport with the Olympics back in Athens where the modern Olympics started, and especially triathlon to make its second appearance.
