I've always wanted to learn to snowboard but its kind of tough when it never snows here. I do have friends that travel to Colorado to enjoy the sport on the weekends but that's all little above my means. As a family we have enjoyed wakeboarding at the local cable park and behind our boat. To me the sport of wakeboarding is a lot like triathlon training, it takes an obscene amount of practicing, countless hours of research and video training, all to go out and beat yourself up repeatedly. But its worth every bit of it when you finally nail the trick or flip that you have been working on for months. It is that same feeling of accomplishment when I crossed the finish line of my first sprint triathlon, it is that feeling of accomplishment that attracts me to both sports!

I posted a photo I took of my 16(then 14) year old son at the local cable park, its pretty amazing the things this kid can do on a board. I would have posted a picture of my self but all my wife would ever seem to catch with the camera would be my crashes. Come to think of it that may be because I crash more then I land.

Have fun this weekend and if it is a lot like wakeboarding like they say it is, its DEFINITLEY a full body workout!

90 minutes on the drainer yesterday. Did Trainerroad - Antelope (5x10' at sweet spot power). Used their new iOS app. Worked well. One of the things I'm really liking about the Trainerroad training plan that I'm following is it is introducing me to a lot of workouts I otherwise never would have done. Antelope was tough and the fact that a target power level is graphically presented to you motivates you to work hard for each interval.

30 minutes in the pool at lunch today.

Dennis, that is a great picture and your kid looks like a pro!

I think I got a yellow light from my wife for IM Arizona next year and have to do a better job selling that grand hole and the red rocks (Grand Canyon and Sedonna :-)

I also have not been able to get my girls (9 and 7) into running with me, but this past weekend we had their dance recitals and I have to say that I'm really proud and thrilled to see them dancing so well and the progress they are making year after year.  That high is equivalent to have them finishing races with me.

Updating my totals (3 drainer workouts + 2 runs)

Long 13 mile run on Sunday at a very easy pace - all sub MAF. I have been reading a book about running with mindfulness and have been putting my meditation to good use during some longer training sessions. Can't say enough good things about practicing meditation and how it has been helping with improving my well being. Best explanation I can give (I am stealing this of course) is that - stillness is to mind as to exercise is to the body.

Your training plan is a guide but you don’t blindly follow it. You shouldn’t know exactly what you are going to do until the day you are to do it.
