So far so good with my training plan. Just finished up week 4 and onto week 5 tomorrow. Haven't missed a day or workout (won't allow myself to say "yet"). I'm starting to do some research on how to prep as best as possible for the heat. It was pretty warm here yesterday in southern Calif so I was able to get in a good run in higher temps.

Anyone on GarminConnect? There is a neat IMTX 2015 group consisting of about 29 people racing this year.

This will be my first IM and I am contemplating buying a new bike in the next week or so. I have a 2009 Felt F5 that I know doesn't fit me right. I'm going back and forth on whether or not I can make it work for IMTX.

I'm on Garmin Connect. I did a search for the group above and found nothing. What is the name of the group, I'd be interested in joining.

I'm on GC too and in the group.  Don't upload my runs because I have a Timex watch, but starting to use it for my rides.

Hard to say on the bike.  If you'll continue to use it going 112 miles on a bike that fits is a lot more comfy than one that doesn't.  Take it from me as mine is too small.

I am entering week 7 of my training plan. It is going well, last week was a recovery week, and wouldn't ya know it, I got sick and missed a few days. Didn't sweat it too much since it was a Recovery week with backed down intensity/volume anyhow. This week though will be close to 12 hours!

Also just had a RETUL bike fit done. Pretty cool! I can already notice a difference even though I am just on the trainer. Seem to be putting out more power with the same intensity as before. Can't wait to see how that translates to the road.

Still trying to figure out how I am going to get my bike down there. TBT is only offering pack and ship options. ProBike Express is trying to figure out if they will add it to their schedule or not. Will probably just fly with it and get it put together down there.

Happy Training! Is it just me, or is this getting more real?!?

Here is the name of the group: Ironman Texas 2015 Training Group

I think I am going to just pull the trigger on the bike. I'm eventually going to purchase a tri bike with a good fit....why not now.

I completely agree...this is starting to feel more "real". The training has been great so far and I can't wait to keep it up.

Decent month for me, although I missed a few workouts to do various things. The nice thing about this go around is I'm not going to obsess about missing a workout here or there. Be interesting as I have a HM next Sunday. Not sure how hard I'm going to run it or should I say, not sure how hard my legs will let me run, since I'm still going to bike and swim and not taper at all.

Hope all is well with everyone, Here are my Jan #s.

Swim: 6h 48m 26s - 21100 Yd

Bike: 27h 49m 18s - 510.36 Mi

Run: 16h 57m 33s - 120.17 Mi

I came down with a bug in the middle of the month and it really derailed my plans for the month. I ended up at:

Swim: 0
Bike: 27h 00m 01s - 512.76 Mi
Run: 13h 27m 21s - 81.9 Mi

Hopefully I'll be more consistent in Feb.....

Looks like I will be using Tribike Transfer to get my bike to IMTX. The crap part is that they have to have it 3 weeks before the race. Any ideas on how to do bike training those weeks? I am only really concerned about the first two seeing as how the week before the race I will be in Texas myself. It is one of those times I wish I had more than one bike! Do spin bikes at the gym do just as well? I figure it is probably better than nothing....

You have anyone that can lend you a bike?

Possibly. I'll have to post it with my local tri group and see. Don't know why I didn't think of the obvious!

My advice would be to buy another bike.  I have three just in case.

I watched the run course video the other day. Doesn't look like there is much shade. Keeping my fingers crossed for a cloudy day.

I'm with you on that. I did it in 13 when it was near 100*. Last year was beautiful from what I heard and read. So be prepared for whatever it is. The good thing is the run is very well supported and lots of people to feed from for energy. Just pace yourself.

My training this week was awful. Whole family was sick, then had the death of a coworker. Did get a short ride in this afternoon. Glad that it was a "recovery week" so I didn't miss anything major anyhow. Onward and upward and looking forward to getting back to it next week

Sorry about your friend. I've had a bad week and don't have any excuses! Overall feeling the pain of having a full time job, kids+husband, and training to fit in...just sucks sometimes. My training has been alternating between great weeks (12-13 hours) and awful weeks (5 hours). Good thing I'm self-coached, I would be pissed if it was like this AND I was paying someone to write a great plan!
