I'll plan to be there. I'm good for the swim as I am without a bike for the weekend.
I am new to OWS - what are the necessities? I plan to swim with my tri tank and shorts under the wetsuit to mirror my race day in a few weeks. (and goggles) Anything else?

Some people like to wear a swim cap but other than that you've got it covered. I would recommend a towel and some sandals for the hike back to trout lake.

Thanks.

I have never been to that particular area... just to make sure I know where to go, correct me if this is wrong: I'm coming from the East - so I'll take 96 West and get off at exit 151 onto Kensington Road, head South / then hang a Left on State Parkway (Kent Lake Beach Road)? Follow that down to the parking lot on the left?

Yes, I think that is correct but just to clarify...

Exit 151 onto Kensington Road follow the loop and go back over the freeway (south)

Go straight through the light at Kensington Rd. & Grand River

Entrance to Island Lake will be on your Left about 1/2 a mile down

Once you clear the booths go straight on Kent Lake Beach Road

Kent Lake Beach access parking lot will be the first lot on your left, about 1/2 a mile into the park.

I will be driving a black Dodge Caliber with a bike on the roof.  See you in the morning.

I think I'm planning to be there again.
Saturday June 3rd. 8am.

I think there is a group from Level Multisport that will be there too.
It was a great time last Saturday... any I'm 1 week out from Belle Isle. I need the OWS.

Hey guys! If you make it out again this Saturday, let me know. (Although I realize you might be taking it easy before Motor City.)

I will not be out there this Saturday, I am running the Blue Cross 5k event downtown along the river this Saturday morning.  I should be out there next Saturday.

I'll off to the races on Sunday - so Saturday is going to be consumed with getting everything ready. checking in and attending grad parties.
Perhaps June 21st.

Question: does anyone know of a good Saturday Sprint in August or September?? I'm looking for what's next.
Thanks
Bruno

I did it! My first Tri

Overall, it was a blast. I'm looking to do a Sprint or Olympic in August or September... Tiger Lily on Aug 30th or Reeds Lake on Sep 6th.

Swim: 28:27 For the first 500 meter I was freaking out a bit because of the cold and swimming against the current. They said the temp was 66. What? it was WAY colder than Trout and I thought someone said Trout was 62.

Bike 1:10 I borrowed a different bike that Thursday (long story)... so I'd say that was good for me. I came inches from hitting a goose at mile 3 and somewhere around 20 miles a lady walking a dog decided to jet in front of me to cross over the road. I dodged her - but lost a water bottle. (Oh the adventures)

Run 50:26 Ouch. this was the tough part. Everyone has told me 'the run will be easy for you' - so I though I would just fly. That first mile felt like I was running in place! I'll have to work on more bricks.

Does anyone make it out to Trout Lake during the week? I want to get in an OWS midweek sometime.
I just signed up for the August 30th Gun Lake Tri and the pool is just not doing it for me.

Know of any groups / people out there after work?
