Looks like it should be a fun race day. Either Rainy or Humid. But then again this is KS and it could be anything!

I wont believe anything until about thursday next week. Hoping for highs in the 70s with cloud cover and low winds. Fingers crossed.

Also, if anyone wants to have a meet and greet on saturday evening, or wants to hang out post race, Jayhox has a prime campsite about 100 yards from the finish/expo area.

that's much better then what they when i looked at it yesterday ( it said it was a high of 93). but still i wont believe anything till early to mid next week.
Based on Nate silver book ( the signal and the noise), the accuracy of the current forecast is less than 1% and no better than just looking at the average.

Now they are saying a few iso thunderstorms Saturday and a few showers Sunday with highs both days in the upper 70's and relatively light winds (9-10mph).  Of course, that will change by later in the week.  :-)

Its race week and it is looking like it will be an intense battle to the finish between Jayhox and Team Banana Hammocks.

So, is it going to happen?  I thought you might chicken out!

And I am getting really nervous about the forecast.  Now they are saying the storms will be Friday, scattered showers Saturday, and no rain Sunday with a high of 75.  Can't possibly happen, right?

I am taking one for a test drive on the treadmill today. I have never run in one, so i am not sure how it will hold the goods, hence the treadmill at home. I think a 4:45 takes you down, unless you are thinking you can go 4:37? As long as i start the run within 5 minutes of you, you will be hearing footsteps before the finish line. That forecast looks to good to be true.

I was 4:46 last year.  The run course is a bit more difficult this year, but I have another year of experience under my belt and one 70.3 already completed.  It will be really interesting to see how our progress compares considering your team's 8 minute head start and faster transitions.  Will be a fun little race inside the bigger race.

Anyone have an "in" with the race organizers?
I'm not going to be able to participate individually, but have had an offer to compete as a relay team - if I could change my registration. Web site FAQ says no (have to request by April 24) - I emailed anyway but not holding my breath.

I really want to come - I'm just not in 70.3 shape with starting a new job a month ago and putting all of my focus there.

Did you email the [email protected] email address? They were actually very helpful with my requests, and got back to me within 24 hours, usually first thing next morning, so give them a chance. I know Tom Z posted on slowtwitch that registration closes tonight at midnight, but you will be able to register on site. So, I assume you can still make changes.

Yep that's where I emailed. I mentioned in my email I would love to participate and seeing as registration was still open was hoping they could switch me to a relay. We'll see!

Athlete Services Phone: 727-430-5660

I'm not sure if that's the same number but two years ago I switched my individual registration to a relay. They said to go to check in on Saturday and they would do it there. I had to pay the difference between individual and team. Each one of my friends had to pay $75 or so to cover the entire relay team cost.

Lisa,

If you call (813) 868-5940 it will give you an option to connect to athlete services (ext. 1 I think). Then it will give you options to select who to talk to. In two other occassions I have gotten great service from Erin at Extension 4. She may be assigned to Kansas anyhow and she was out there at the race Expo when I switched individual to relay.

Does that mean you are going to skip the race. We are checking in as soon as it opens on friday. I can certainly ask there if that would change your mind?

I sent an email in yesterday about something else, haven't heard back myself. A few WTC races going on this weekend but we all know how to communicate away from our desk so I'm a little surprised.

I switched individual to relay in 2012. When I did talk to them they said to go to the expo and do everything there. So by that, they actually did nothing until I got to the race site. I had paid for individual race so at the race site I simply paid the difference between the individual and relay price. Each one of my team members paid with their credit card right there (each paid 50% of the difference). They both had to supply USAT card or pay 1 day license fee. It seemed pretty easy for them to do. This makes sense since they take walk up registration for both individual and relay teams.

But a shame they haven't gotten back yet. It's an easy question to answer.
