I've never quite figured out the TAN TAN = Thread About Nothing we just chit chat, used to be a lot of food talk in here (where should i go for lunch? i just ate a burrito the size of my head! etc) but also travel and occasionally racing. Food talk. Two weeks until I leave central MO and have access to interesting food again I've got a list of places to hit in Tucson while I'm back there. CAN NOT WAIT! Job talk: can only land a phone interview in Newport News. Not crazy about not benig there in person prior to accepting. Considering bagging the whole thing, returning to AZ and working until grant $$ runs out again...
that's really strange that they wouldn't WANT you to see Newport News/meet people/etc in the interview process. |

that's really strange that they wouldn't WANT you to see Newport News/meet people/etc in the interview process. Can they even do a skype or video interview?? I went through 6 phone interviews and 2 video interviews before I was hired, and didn't meet a single person face to face until my first week of work. |

Alpharetta, Georgia | Subject: RE: NewTAN's Third Law of Motion Ya most of my interviews for my current job were video interviews (but maybe working for the cable company that shouldn't be a surprise). But I was interviewing for a job in the town I live - my bosses are the ones in a different city. I'd DEFINITELY want to see a town before committing to LIVING there!! Can you accept the job on contingency that you don't hate the city once you visit? |

Yeaaaahhh - you'd think it would be something all important or something, but nope! I'm a paralegal for an intellectual property law firm. I work in patent prosecution and patent litigation. It's just that the head office is in Atlanta and I was living in Chicago at the time. |

Alpharetta, Georgia | Subject: RE: NewTAN's Third Law of Motion My last role = 1 interview and then I had an offer My current role = 2 recruiter phone interviews, 1 in-person panel interview with 3 people, 1 in-person interview with 1 leader, 2 video interviews with separate leaders. To be fair though, I applied for a different job than I have - so there was a change of course in the middle. |

Much the same for me... my last law firm I had 1 day of in-person interviews and got offered the job The current law firm was: 2 recruiter phone calls |

Sensei Sin City | Subject: RE: NewTAN's Third Law of Motion Originally posted by blueyedbikergirl Nice!! We're heading to the design studio next weekend to start picking out all the stuff for our house. WOOT! Exciting! Just a head's up. Most of the time they have SO many upgrades and options that a house you thought was in your price range can get expensive... Kind of like getting a new car with all the options you can add but 100x worse. BUT, if you plan to live in it for the long haul, you should also be happy and get what you want. My only advice is to spend on conveniences, and not cosmetics (unless the stock option is ugly)... But that's me. Central vac and all rooms wired for data/sound is probably more important to me than a different color of travertine tile that's $3 a squire foot more. I think you always get tired of how something looks and want a change, but never tire of things that make life easier. Just my 0.02. Exciting times though. I'm jealous.

Champion 7704 Williamston, Michigan | Subject: RE: NewTAN's Third Law of Motion I only had about a dozen or so kids. My neighbor had forgotten to buy candy so I gave her a bunch of mine as i had clearly over bought. In other news my SECOND maid of honor for my wedding in SIX WEEKS bailed on me thursday. By text message. To which I replied "OK" Then she had the nerve to go off on me the next day also by text concluding with "I know its all about you" YES as a matter of fact it IS all about me as its MY WEDDING. She has been replaced. Also we are now 4 days cat puke free at my house. This is VERY noteworthy as I have been dealing with daily cat vomit for several months. |
