d00d, OWS are always longer than you think they will be :-) Seriously though, when I did tri tri last (several years ago), I had no concerns about a long swim (that I remember) but didn't much like the leeches....

Hey, folks. I forgot that I had Reserves that weekend. I don't think I'll be able to defer the training to another date. Looks like I'll be missing this race. Bummer.

Hope you guys have fun and see ya at the next race, which for me is probably going to be White Lake Int'l.

I'll be there. Signed up a few months ago. Good race. Swim is a box with an undertow at turn two. Bike course has a few hills but they are gradual. Hit 46mph last year on a long descent!! Run is hot, but the course is good. Looking forward to this one again!!

Oh, ref OWS, don't worry about it. Plenty of watercraft out there!!! Relax and enjoy!! Did I mention I hate swimming?? I'll be the old guy out there swimming on my sides, back, breast stroke, and about 25m of freestyle.. Ole shoulder doesn't work the same anymore, that's why I'm 90% disabled...

Prices go up again this weekend. Time for me to decide. I was sort of waiting to see how the weather was shaping up but the 10 day calls for 85 / 68 with a 30% chance of rain, which pretty much tells me nothing. I'm definitely leaning toward doing it.

Thanks Louiskie. That's too bad. It's always fun hanging out. I think I am going to race anyway though.

Fun race yesterday. Good thing it wasn't this morning. It rained all morning.

I understand that a rider went down. I saw the emergency vehicles when I was riding down Avent Ferry but I thought it had to do with just the tractor. Anyone know if the rider is ok?

Are these races too close together to give me any sort of recovery? Will I be spent and unhappy racing back to back weekends and then again two weeks after that?

The challenge? The accomplishment? I want to do this because it is an opportunity to live life. The event is an indoor sprint triathlon. I get to experience the challenge on a safer scale.

This plan is designed to make you go faster. 3 workouts per week in each sport, 2 days of strength training and core work. The maximum volume is around 10 hours toward the end of the 12 weeks.

Since your “A” race is your marathon, which you stated in your question, this should be your main focus. I encourage you to taper a bit for the sprint distance triathlon.
