Subject: Swim Training at Patagonia Lake
I believe Lake Patagonia is the closest place for open water swim training in Tucson. Can anyone give me the skinny on where to go at the lake, when to swim with or without wetsuit, any kind of distance references in or on the lake, etc. I want to prepare for my first Olympic distance triathlon in Austin, TX September 1st and I don't want to do all my training in a 25 meter pool. Any and all advice is appreciated.

You'll want to go to the roped off area called boulder beach. The roped off area is small intended for the kids, but its a great place to start from. You can swim across and back quite easily and sighting is easy too. Of course, there's boats out there so wear a bright swim cap!

I'm not good at the distance references - I did a swim training out there and the rocky outcropping to the left, I believe was around 100m.

I have Bontrager Race Lite wheels. I was looking into renting Zipp 303's or 404's for race day for Ironman Lake Placid. What time will I save?

I am running Boston in April and Ironman Lake Placid is in July. I have been told that it is ambitious to think about doing an IM so close to a marathon due to the recovery time. Any suggestions?

Both the Lake Triathlon Shoe CX210TRI and the Lake Road Shoe CX225 offer distinct advantages. I tested both shoes and found them to be extremely comfortable, good looking and durable.

If you are calm while everyone around you is losing it, you probably don’t know what the hell is going on.
