World Triathlon Corporation
75F / 24C
Sunny
Total Time = 1h 56m 5s
Overall Rank = 365/
Age Group = F45-49
Age Group Rank = 19/26
Pre-race routine:

Got up at 4:45, drank coffee and ate a hard boiled egg, banana, and almond butter with honey and salt on the drive up. Got there quickly.
Event warmup:

Walking around and chatting with Vickie, Bruce, Alan, and the Tribella ladies.
Swim
  • 19m 21s
  • 750 meters
  • 02m 35s / 100 meters
Comments:

I'm so freaking slow. I also had my wetsuit on for the first time this year and it tired out my shoulders- felt snug. I was a little panicked but calmed myself down.
What would you do differently?:

Train more, try on my wetsuit before the race, and do at least one open water swim.
Transition 1
  • 03m 13s
Comments:

Not terrible
Bike
  • 1h 02m 21s
  • 17.2 miles
  • 16.55 mile/hr
Comments:

I haven't had enough time in the saddle, so I'm not too unhappy with this time. I also dropped my first GU so I had to improvise my nutrition.
What would you do differently?:

Train more
Transition 2
  • 02m 19s
Run
  • 28m 51s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 09m 19s  min/mile
Comments:

Run was definitely the best of the three. I passed a few people, and felt relatively good. Some more speed workouts should help.
What would you do differently?:

Train more.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around and talked to people. Had a slice of pizza.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Training! Looking back, I did this about the same pace as my last tri, but slower than when I was racing in 2009. I think it's the training volume that made the difference then. I'll definitely need to ratchet it up a bit for the Boulder Peak.

It was literally seconds after I started swimming that I felt the tightness in my chest. I couldn’t get a deep breath in due to the tightness of my wetsuit. I was being strangled by my wetsuit...

The challenge? The accomplishment? I want to do this because it is an opportunity to live life. The event is an indoor sprint triathlon. I get to experience the challenge on a safer scale.

This plan is designed to make you go faster. 3 workouts per week in each sport, 2 days of strength training and core work. The maximum volume is around 10 hours toward the end of the 12 weeks.

Since your “A” race is your marathon, which you stated in your question, this should be your main focus. I encourage you to taper a bit for the sprint distance triathlon.
