Yep, I'm in. Did it last year and it was fun, just trying to beat my own time.

trying to decide where to start in the swim. I generally swim about a 8 min 400 but sometimes its fun to start the very last person and see how many people you can pass all day

This was my very first tri ever last year, i put my self further back then i should have been in the swim... that was the worst idea ever, trying to swim past all those people sucked. so many people put themselves into the ten minutes slot that were actually swimming the 400m in 16+ minutes it was downright dangerous. Some one tried to use me to keep from drowning before we even hit the first turn... I'm putting myself in the 7 minute slot to avoid that problem this year.

I wouldn't recommend doing that here, unless you like being stuck. This race is notoriously oversold (they have like 2000 spots), and you'll never make it through the M-shaped swim at a good pace if you're even a mediocre swimmer. Maybe it's changed since 2012, but it was really bad. Typical WTC production......

Thats what happened to me. its not even that its oversold, it's such a casual race half the people don't know how fast they swim, or are not mentally prepared for the washing machine... it caught me by surprise too... but some people loose there focus and its all over.

I have always been an athlete, growing up playing team sports like basketball and soccer. I also ran in a couple of 10K races every year, so I had no reason to worry about running a 5K...right?

After I left the running store, I couldn't stop thinking about the sprint tri and how much of a challenge it would be for me. So instead of joining a gym, I started riding my bike and it felt great.

I couldn’t help but feel that the race had beaten me. Perhaps duathlons were more for me? No, I was more determined than ever to succeed. I was determined to get on top of my swimming.

This life of mine is not so different from yours. It has a multitude of similarities. I suffer from uncertainty, I get nervous at the thought of registering and when getting to the starting line.

I am not going to buy a tri-suit before my first tri - I want to make sure I am going to stick with this before I spend a lot of money on it so I want to figure out what will work best.

I couldn't believe that my splits kept getting lower! I started to run harder after I passed the "5 km" sign and picked a few people that I wanted to pass.
