Pre-race routine:

Got up at 5:30 took a shower, ate some donuts and choco milk. Rode to race site. Where I had been sick, my goal was to beat my last years time of 1:33.
Event warmup:

rode bike 1 mile from parking lot, swam 200 yards.
Swim
  • 13m 18s
  • 600 yards
  • 02m 13s / 100 yards
Comments:

Even though my swim time doesnt show it, I really thought I did very well on the swim. I dolphin swam from the entry till I got out into a little deeper water. Sighting was dead on, never got off course any. I really tried to work on rotating and stretching out in the swim and thought I did a really good job of that. Around the bouys it got very congested and I did a very good job of fighting my way thru the crowd. 3/4 of the way thru the swim I was really impressed at how great I felt, sighting was still good, technique felt really dead on and I felt very effeceint in the water. I felt like I had a good turn over and only felt a little tired. Was suprised by my time..

time to beat 15:49
What would you do differently?:

I guess just get faster, stroke felt very dead on. I really liked the swim for once.
Transition 1
  • 01m 46s
Comments:

transition was very congested. I had a little trouble getting my helmet fastened and that pissed me off. There was a long run up from the water.
Could not run with bike because of several people in front of me taking up lane and taking their time... aggrevated me

time to beat 1:37
What would you do differently?:

not fiddle with helmet so much
Bike
  • 43m 12s
  • 16.2 miles
  • 22.50 mile/hr
Comments:

I thought I kicked it on the bike, NO ONE passed me and I passed a ton of people. Felt very strong on the bike, just kept pushing. Stayed in big chain ring the whole time. Only in 27 on the back two times on the hills. Ride was fantastic! drank every 15 min, 1 gel a mile from finish.

time to beat 48:14
What would you do differently?:

Get faster, really wanted to avg 25 mph. so a little dissapointed.
Transition 2
  • 01m 3s
Comments:

This transition was much better, had just a little problem with shoes.

Time to beat 1:23
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 26m 36s
  • 3 miles
  • 08m 52s  min/mile
Comments:

Run was good, felt a little hard to get legs moving but I think that was due to not having run but only 2 times in two weeks; so I am very happy with it. IT felt good after going so hard on the bike.
time to beat 26:14
What would you do differently?:

Just need to get faster, more speed work.
Post race
Warm down:

Nothing, cheered on local HEAT competitors.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Being sick and lack of quality workouts over last 3 weeks.

Event comments:

Another good team magic, with awesome tie dye tshirts.

Way to go...looks good all around.  It'll be hard work to get that extra 2.5 mph on the bike but I bet you can do it!
