Coming up soon in Morgan City on 6/29/14. Is anyone doing it? I am signed up and am pretty excited. Unfortunately i didn't get to make any of the training swims but it should be fun.

Has anyone done it before, what should we expect?

Thanks

Expect heat man; it's a fun race but hot. The swim was a bit choppy last year but overall easy to sight. You have to climb a little ladder to get out of the water but there are volunteers there to help. Transition is in a grassy area so no rocks digging into your feet. Bike is a flat out and back, but keep your eyes open because there are homes and businesses along they way and the course is not closed to traffic so watch out for cars pulling out. The run goes the opposite way of the bike and does a little loop through the RV park, some shade but still hot. Post race is some great food and there are fun jumps for the kids.

How far from Baton Rouge is this race? I'm here through the 2nd of July and would love to get another race in.

It's almost straight south from Baton Rouge. Maybe 1:15 to 1:30 drive. I'm from Lafayette so not sure of the best route but looks like Hwy 1 south, to Hwy 69, to Hwy 70 into Morgan City.

I hope to meet some BT'ers tomorrow. I will be wearing a blue and orange tri shirt that has EDG on it. Good luck to everyone.

My issue is that I am currently deployed and training outside is proving difficult, especially on the bike. I have found a safe 10km running loop but I am struggling with the bike training.

I strained by lower back last week. I know that I need to rest in order for it to heal fully, but I am concerned that I am going to lose needed fitness for the race. Will this affect my performance?

Although you can receive all of your vitamins and minerals through foods eaten in the diet, nutritional products used for training may not allow you to meet recommendations on a daily basis.

This is not an easy task, especially for the “9-to-5er” with family. But you can do it – all without sacrificing your marriage, job or family.
