Comments:

Felt good on this swim. Took it out fast. Slowed down a bit but didn't really need to. Was just trying to pace it.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.

Comments:

Wetsuit was stuck on my left heel because of the timing chip. Nothing to do about it, though. Expected that.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.

Comments:

Only thing I didn't like about this course and ride was that the second loop was congested. Other than that it was great for me.

Was holding over 24 on the flats and after a downhill I could hold between 28-30 for a good minute or two. The hills kill the averages though, of course.

Really, really good bike for me. Up 3mph from last season.

However, I'm really, really not happy with the 2:00 penalty received for illegal passing. A pro women was all the way on the left against the cones blocking me, even after I yelled "on your left!" She never moved and I passed on the right, and sure enough, there was the USAT official taking my number.

Would've been 100th place overall instead of 117th, and top 8.7% instead of 10.3%, costing me an Age Group Nationals qualification. Really annoyed at this. No top 100 finish, no AG Nats. All for a BS penalty.
What would you do differently?:

Go faster on the first loop because of the necessary slowing down on second loop.
Transition 2
  • 01m 11s
Comments:

Good, quick transition. In and out.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Run
  • 45m 53s
  • 10 kms

Comments:

Felt good for the first 3 miles of this run. Cramped a little bit on the second half, but it was more just feeling starving. Didn't eat really at all in the morning and before the race, so just felt kind of empty towards the end.

Still felt pretty well though, especially compared to last year. Went 8:36 last year and 7:12 (garmin) this year. Wanted to be a bit faster but not bad at all.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe eat a bar on the bike.

Event comments:

TriRock does put on great events. This race did cost a lot, but I think it was worth it. Fast swim/run course and challenging bike. Just a good event that I'd definitely do again.
