I am looking for a usable set of clipless pedals and shoes. Does not have to be pretty - just safe and functional. I am trying to do my 1st tri "on the cheap". {insert laugh line here}

My bike is a Klein Aura XV. I assume the pedals are 9/16th. The LBS I bought it from just threw on some generic platform pedals for me.

My shoe size is 8 or 8.5. I did try on some bontrager shoes which were size 41 and they fit well.

I've got an old old pair of Pearl izumi tri shoes. Tri fly 3 non carbon. I'm a size 8 as well and the 42eu fits my foot well. They're lying around in a bag if you want them. Wouldn't charge a lot

I have a pair of Diadora 42 shoes with Look cleats and Look KOA pedals that I could part with if the other offers don't work out. Let me know if you are interested.

Thanks to everyone who replied - I ended up finding shoes and clipless pedals locally on craigslist. It was nice being able to try them on before the purchase.

I have pedals with the cage and when I ride 2+ hours my legs feel much more tired then if I took out my husband's bike with clipless pedals. Do clipless pedals truly make the difference?

I started riding this spring with the Carnac shoes on Look pedals (with plenty of float). About five minutes into a ride I get sharp pain on the outer edge of my feet, just behind the pedal.
