Windy morning. Waves crashing into my face on the way out. Better on the way back in. I had never swam in waves before, so it took a while to adjust.

Really windy, especially going south on I95. My bike time was slower than expected, but everyone else had slow bike times too.

Comments:

I knew the run was going to be hard. I hadn't run in 6 weeks. I started out just walking through the aid stations. Just before half way I started to bonk so I was walking a lot more. My toe injury started bothering me soon after that, followed by a calf/hamstring cramp and finally my tibialis anterior started to flare up.

12:03 is still not a bad time considering that I went into the race injured.

I was totally blown away by the community support, especially the locals cheering on the run course. Ironman Coeur d'Alene truly is a special venue like no other.

I have been waiting for the first IMCDA race report!  I am signed up for next year, I keep hearing how fabulous it is and your comments seem to reflect that! And, BTW, great race--your time as an injured athlete will still beat my time!  Congrats!

Congratulations on a stellar race despite injury and the VERY challenging weather conditions in the water and on the bike.  Glad you enjoyed your time here in our town, we'd welcome you back anytime!

Nice race, especially considering your injuries. Brutal bike day, but very very respectable bike split you posted.
