Subject: Quakertown in Sept?
Anyone planning on this event? Don't know much about it, any input from previous years?

Ive done the HIM the previous 2 years. Good race, but very small. If you have never been to Lake Nockamixon, its a perfect venue. It is one of my favorite lakes to swim in. The bike is 3 loops around the lake. There is nothing very challenging per se about the bike course except that it is constantly rolling terrain. The run course I find to be pretty challenging. There is not a whole lot of flat on the course. My wife is doing the HIM this year.

I'm bouncing back and forth between this and Diamondman. They are on the same day. Nockamixon is a nice lake, but a 2 loop swim. 3 loop bike, 2 loop run is kind of repetitive. Diamondman is flat and also kind of boring, unless you like really flat courses. Both are well-run events.

Did the Olympic distance last year for the first time and thought it was a small well run event. The lake is a great swim, the bike is way more challenging than most give credit - a lot of hills - some very fast parts down Rt. 313 - 39 miles for the bike so longer than a typical Olympic. The run is through a paved path but then a pretty good uphill to the turnaround. Not much on other activities but nice people and pretty challenging course.

I am deciding which race to do. I have already done a half this year, not sure if I want to do another one or hit up the oly.

I ride loops of the Quakerman bike course for most of my long rides. It is worth the drive from Philly for that epic climb on Dublin!

I have only done the Oly, it is small townish and well run. The Lake has some rough rocks and I would try and swim all the way to land to avoid the toenail incident I had. The run is nice b/c it is 6 mi loops and the HIM'ers and Oly's share the course so you are always running with people.

G'luck, have a great race!

Had some time to kill so I took a trip and ride the course once through. Not too bad, a few steepish rollers, but nothing too dramatic. I do hope they clear the shoulder a bit before the race. I saw a fair bit of debris and glass on my ride today.

Had an awesome time today, despite crazy mid 90 heat and super thick humidity. 6:15 and somehow ended up second in my AG.
