Subject: What if you're already a swimmer?
All of the training for the swimming leg of a tri that I am seeing is for beginner swimmers. While I haven't been in a pool to work out in quite some time, I can do 100 freestyle without any hassle. Are there any suggested programs for someone who has been out of the pool for a while, but can still swim? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Do what you do for the swim portion of the training and heed the advice for the rest to start.  most of the beginner plans are made with the assumption you have never attempted to train any of the three disciplines.

When you say you can do a 100 free "without any hassle" does that mean you're a former competitive swimmer, or that you can swim 100yds without stopping?

Big difference there...

Swim sets like you did when you were a kid. No need to swim straight distance, its junk mileage anyway.

Just use the planned amount of time but try to swim stuff like 15x100 or 30x50 at 1500 pace.

Best program I know of if you've got basic swimming in place is Sheila Taormina's Swim Speed Workouts (helps a lot if you get the companion book Swim Speed Secrets as well). If you're serious about doing effective, structured swim workouts that are about 8-10,000 yd/m per week it's absolutely the best.

There's quite a bit of a difference between a 100 yard pool swim and a triathlon OWS swim… If you're already a competitive swimmer, work on speed and modify the training programs. You don't want to lose the advantage you have from a good swim split.

100 yards in a pool isn't exactly something to be compared to an OWS.....many people can get across the pool a couple times "without hassle".
Training plans involve a lot more than 100 yards and incorporate drills, sprints, paddles, etc. As a competitive swimmer myself, I could get through 3K yards without hassle but it's being awesome in an OWS that I'm looking for. Therefore, I take the training plans I have and challenge myself. And that's what you should do. Kudos for knowing how to swim. Now make yourself better.

At first I thought, "Oh boy, what a mistake!" Let’s face it, I could barely run half a mile, I had not swum in forever, and my biking skills were not great, to say the least.
