Hey everyone, I have a road bike and I wanted to put clip on aero bars. After reading reviews I decided I was going to go with profile design, but I didn't realize that they had different options for bends. I'm going to get them from my local tri shop which has a great return policy, but I would rather do that if I didn't have to. I was wondering what you guys like and why. I'm trying to decide between the tt2, t3, and the t4. I've never ridden on aero bars so I have no idea what tends to be more comfortable on long rides.

The best choice will be based, for the most part, on fit. If you look to them for recommendations, tell them what distance you're shooting for. Your fit on the bike with aerobars will be a combination of several factors, two being aerodynamics and comfort. So make sure and tell them what "long rides" means to you. When I got my first set of aerobars I had to get a new stem.

The OPTIMUM solution would be to get a professional fit with the aerobars, but that's also a costly one. So at least see what you can get "free" from them since you're buying some aerobars. Maybe hint you may be purchasing a tri bike in the next year or so

personal preference.  i could never get comfortable on my T1's but used them anyways and had a lot of wrist/hand pain.  switched to the T3's and I can go 80 miles on a long ride in aero pretty much all of the time fine.  depends.

you could put your bike on a trainer and try simulating the position of each bar to see what feels more comfortable if you can't try each out before purchase.

I'm getting fit this Saturday, but not from that shop. I wanted the bars before then so I can be fit to them. I think I'm leaning towards the t3's because everyone seems to like those. My current long rides are 40 miles, but I plan on upping that in the future :D

Here is another vote for t3. I too am a newbie to aero bars. I got mine a little over a month ago. My fitter and I discussed the different angles and I decided to go with t3 as I have a history of wrist pain. Gotta say I love my aero bars. My wrist is even feeling better. Go figure! I am not sure what the cause is though. Good luck with your aero bars!

I have a pair of PD Carbon Strykes with traditional ski bend bars.  I've got a history of carpal tunnel syndrome and the ski bends keep my wrists at more natural angle.

Does the shop you're getting fit at have a selection you can try? Curious what all is included for this fit session as that should normally be considered part of it. I much prefer bars more like the T2 as anything resembling the ski bend bugs me.
