Harvard Pilgrim Finish at the 50
92F / 33C
Sunny
Total Time = 32m
Overall Rank = 865/3214
Age Group = M3039
Age Group Rank = 146/303
Pre-race routine:

Kind of chaotic. Parking was far from registration so I did a lot of walking back and forth with race gear, registration, etc. Didn't really get into a routine.
Event warmup:

Lots of walking, not a lot of stretching. Spent a LOT of time hydrating for a few days before the race because I knew it would be hot and humid.

Comments:

Run felt good until the concourses - those just sucked. Not because of the elevation change but because you couldn't keep a decent pace between dodging people and changing direction.
What would you do differently?:

Not expect to PR this race. I went in with a time to beat and, had I known about the course, I would have just tried to enjoy it more than anything else. It's not a PR kind of race.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretched and cheered on the runners. Grabbed some water and a few bananas

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The course is not a PR course - it's more of a fun run than it is a competitive run.

Event comments:

Most likely will NOT do this run next year. It's always hot as hell and, being that it's in the afternoon, it just kind of wastes the day for you. In addition, the course is no fun with all the concourse traversing.

Seeing yourself on the big screen is pretty cool though!

Course: Course was kind of blah. It was all on the grounds of Patriot Place and some of it isn't open to the public so there was no way to scout the path before the race. That kind of left a mental hurdle for me. The worst part was going up and down the concourses. Between people dodging and changing direction so often, it killed your time.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve had weight issues. I remember standing on the scale as a child weighing 60 pounds and feeling fat. My family dealt with stress by eating.
