I just put my new Cobb V-flow saddle on my bike this evening. I had been using the stock Felt saddle previously and was having a lot of numbness and discomfort. I just took the bike for a spin around the block and it did NOT feel good.

Please tell me there is going to be a "break in" period. Or should you know almost right away that the saddle will or will not work?

For me, there was definitely a couple weeks getting adjusted to the feel of the saddle, but never any numbness.  I'd give it some time and lots of riding.  Sometimes a split-saddle puts more pressure on your sit-bones and it takes time to get adjusted.  Cobb has a 180 day return policy so you're good there.  Also, email or call them if you have questions about specific adjustments - they are great about helping out.

Have you had your fit checked? I never had any numbness, but I never really "liked" the v-flow. I moved to the v-flow plus and pretty much immediately liked that much better (after trying an Adamo in-between). I now have the v-flow plus on both my tri and road bikes.

depends on what "NOT feel good" means.  the cobb/adamo saddles have an adjustment period where they can be quite painful in the sit bone area as you adjust.

This sounds like a fit issue. Most any saddle should definitely NOT cause numbness even if it's the "wrong" saddle for you.

Cobb says that break-in period is at least 15-20 hours on the saddle - I'm testing a Cobb right now and know its not going to work - I like the width of it, but its too long

I put a Cobb V-flow plus on my tri bike this spring. At first it was not as comfortable as the stock Felt saddle. I actually read the stuff that came with the saddle, and slowly made adjustments to it. I did 20-30 minute rides at a time between adjustments. After about 4 times it was good.
The original Felt saddle was good up to about 30-40 mile rides, after that it got uncomfy and some numbness. The Cobb has been good out to 80 miles rides so far.

I got the v-flow plus, and for a month or so after I thought I had made a horrible mistake. Now I don't even feel the thing. Love it. Give it some time.

I have the V-Flow plus as well on my TT bike. I remember frequently stopping to adjust it here and there on the first few rides. Once I got it dialed in it has been awesome. 100+ miles are no problem with this saddle whereas my previous saddle was killing me after 50 or so.

I took it out on a short 12 mile bike ride today. At first my sit bones were really sore but it did seem to get better. I didn't get bad numbness. Not like my Felt saddle but I feel "weird" in the more middle part of my "woman areas". Sorry don't know how to explain without grossing people out. Should I try tilting it downward more?

play with it a little, I did it methodically.
stood my bike on level ground and placed a level on top of the seat to make it as level as possible. measured from ground to front and back of the seat and wrote that down. took a ride and made notes on how it felt.
Started to adjust the front of the seat down(maybe 1/16 to 1/8 th of an inch) took measurements , and went for a ride.
Kept doing this til it felt pretty good, stopped. Thought I would ride for a week or two before making anymore adjustments- that was 3 months ago and I have not touched it since. everything feels great.

Love my Cobb saddle. Did you follow the level instructions? Make sure you put a flat book on the seat and then the level .

I cannot get comfortable without the nose of the saddle being tilted down. I have tried many different seats and had two professional fittings, but still have excessive numbness and discomfort.

Finding the right bicycle saddle is often a confusing process of trial and error for cyclists. However, a little education goes a long way, and will perhaps save you some pain and discomfort as well.

The ISM Adamo Racing Saddle is difficult to define. It doesn’t look like a bicycle saddle. It doesn’t mount like a bicycle saddle. And yet, it does feel like a bicycle saddle.
