Just bought a house so training has been sub-par, haven't been sleeping enough, have a slight fever that cropped up the night before the race. Get to race, poor sighting in back leg of swim. Get on bike, hit a bump as I am shifting, drop chain, fall. Seat breaks in half. Get to run. asthma attack.

Soooooo, lets say I got all the bad luck out in one race?

Reminds me of the scene in "World According to Garp" where an airplane crashes into a house he is considering buying and views it as a good omen, the house is "pre-disastered". You should be good to go for the rest of the race season. Go get 'em.

For real?! This sounds like one of my pre-race nightmares and I am not even kidding. One of my nightmares is the seat falling off and I try to ride anyway by never sitting down but then my legs are toast and I can't run.

So yeah, all good things for your races from here on out!!

Good gravy, that sounds like a horrendous race!!  You certainly proved your resilience - any one of those things would have done in a lot of people.  Glad you survived in one piece.  Yes, as others said, you've gotten it all out of the way and should be good to go for the rest of the season and maybe beyond!

I hope that was a sprint! Can't imagine doing a HIM on IM with a seat broken in half.

No permanent harm, no foul hell, you were undertrained anyway so chuck this rubbish race in the bin and enjoy your new house.

Should make for an interesting race report!

As I tell people, finishing time doesn't tell the WHOLE story.  You overcame a lot some self-inflicted, to finish the race.

Your seat broke? You are tough. I probably would have had my first DNF and grabbed a beer at that point.
