Not sure if someone wants to also move this to the race forum.

I just wanted to remind / inform those of you traveling to Racine for the Half this weekend of the significant amount of highway roadwork being done in SE Wisconsin this summer. There are going to be significant delays for those coming from MN and NW Wisconsin since I-94 E/W is going to be in a full closure near the Hwy 100 / 894 intersection. DOT has already put the word out that traffic will be greatly restricted and impacted by the closure for all traffic going East (Milwaukee) or SE (Racine and Kenosha Counties) from that closure location. There is also a lot of traffic lane reductions as you are Northbound on I-94 coming out of IL into and through both Kenosha and Racine counties. Please plan accordingly especially if you were going to have to cut it close for packet pickup / bike checkin. Good luck to all, safe travel, safe race....see ya from my kayak.

Here is a WI DOT link: http://www.dot.wisconsin.gov/travel/road/workzones-se.htm

Also, the primary road into Racine HWY 20 (Washington Ave) exit ramp NB is closed (and I believe that SB also) so you will have to exit at either HWY 11 (Durand Ave) which is south of HWY 20 or HWY K which is north of HWY 20.

I just started doing tris this summer and I have two under my belt, both sprints. Is it reasonable to build up for a Oly in early ā€˜09, with a HIM in Oct of ā€˜09

I just had a couple of problems, I could count the number of triathlons I had contested at zero. Secondly, I could count on one hand the number of times I had been swimming in the last 17 years.

I will assume you have not run consistently more than 6 miles and have never completed a half-marathon. I believe running your first half-marathon is a big task which requires dedication and work.

This half Ironman plan covers many weeks of challenging, but attainable training for someone who has some endurance experience, and ideally some Olympic distance races within the past season.
