Subject: Sale and Tire question
Just a heads-up. Performance bikes is having a sale through Sunday that you might want to check out. 20% off on most everything except bikes, they're 10% off. I found it because I am in need of new tires.

I am early in my tri life due to an accident last year. I need a set of decent tires for both training and a few races. I am 209# on my way back to my pre-accident weight of 190#. I ride 60-80 miles a week but again, building back up to where I was last year at 110-120 miles a week.

So open to suggestions. I did see these that looked interesting: Continental Grand Prix Attack and Force Road Tire Set http://www.performancebike.com/bikes/Product_10052_10551_1168059_-1...

Anybody know anything about these? At $90 on sale for the set is that a decent option?

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

The Attack/Force is a fast combo.  As always use Latex tubes to get the most out any tire.  The other option is to use the Conti GP4000S II tires.  They have more tread depth to them hence will last a bit longer for using for training and racing. If you do a search on them the old version (without the II) should be cheaper as they have been on closeout recently.

BTW, the new GP4000S II pair shows up on eBay for $94.90 with free shipping. Full search= http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=continental+grand+prix+4000s

Also, FYI, the GP4000S II with the color side wall skirts & black tread are all the same when it comes to rolling resistance.  The older GP4000 with colored tread were not the same as the black version (black chili) when it came to rolling resistance.

I bought a pair of GP4000S on Monday for $69 at ProbikeKit (they have them for sale for $77, but I had an additional 10% off code). GP4000S II were for sale for $89.

I used a different set of tires before, but since I switched to the G4000S I don't think I can find other tires that offer the same performance and puncture resistance than this.
