Morning all, apologies in advance!

So a little background, firstly I am a mouth breather, secondly I am one of the worlds pukers,

I puke on the swim (salt water makes me heave) I have been swim/puking this so long that it doesn't really affect my stroke!.
I puke if my heart rate hits 200
I puke if I run out of water...

On last nights 10 miler I ran short of water (I run with a hand bottle & am constantly sipping from it) and was reduced to dry heaving along the roadside a mile from the finish, if my throat gets dry - I'm done for.

I also find that I tend to gather mucus on my soft palate which can turn my stomach.

Are there any similarly afflicted? Anyone have any hints.

Thanks, Glen

I have been in the similar boat, I swam competitively and if I did back to back events I would yack, I think it was the intense efforts in short time. I also have a deviated septum, my left nostril is 80% occluded, it is more of a nuisance but when I run or work really hard I have to breathe through my mouth. When I switch to mouth breather I get a bit of drainage due to the occluded nostril. I end up getting a nice coating on the back of my through and a paste on my soft palate. I have found a few tricks to keep it from becoming a huge pain. On race days or planned tough efforts, I use affrin to open the nasal passages; it’s not good to do daily as the side effects make it worse. I also try to keep my mouth moist, little sips of water and a swish and spit if needed. I will also use a life saver or starburst, just pop it in my mouth and let it sit between my cheek and gum; it gives me a little sugar and something to keep my mouth moist, just don’t tell my dentist.

Thanks guys,

I have crewed gum on the swim before, tuck it behind my lip and have a quick chew if my mouth gets dry.

Bought some starbursts, will use tonight to see if it helps.

Thanks again

I suffer from dry mouth from cancer treatment last year. ACT make lozenges for dry mouth. I put one in prior to swim, bike, or run. Normal every day activities they last about 2 hrs. Working out - 30-45 minutes.
