Hello from Switzerland

Hey everyone. I just joined this site as I recently signed up for my first triathlon (what a surprise I hear you say, on a Beginner Triathlon Forum...) and while searching for information on everything triathlon related I ended up being directed here from google numerous times, so thought I'd join in the fun!

My main reason for wanting to do a triathlon is that in September, I have to race 100m (swimming) for a multi-sport event that I'm taking part in, and there are 5 other guys counting on me to do well. I'm not a great swimmer - I don't drown, but I'm not what you'd call speedy (and I don't know how to crawl - efficiently at least). So I thought, what better way to prepare than signing up for a 500m open water swim at the end of August (with a bit of a ride and run at the end to cool down ) The bike and run sections don't worry me unduly - I run and ride a lot already, and I actually rode the bike section of the triathlon I've signed up for last year as part of a team-relay so I know what I'm letting myself in for at least with the course.

So I've got one month (exactly) until the event now, and my work cut out, but I'm having fun at least.

Hope to read/write more later, but now I'm off to the lake for an impromptu lesson!
